The stigma that only men should work in certain trades is fast wearing out, as more and more females enter into the tasks of replacing boilers or installing a kitchen. Wired for Success are aiming to reduce the number of unemployed female by getting them trained as electricians, as figures show only 1% of women are qualified electricians.
The aim over the next 2 years is to get 12 women trained up who currently live in social housing so that they can go on to potentially have a good working future and the chance to run their own firms, not to mention filling gaps in the industry.
